About Ayanami
Ayanami was the eleventh of twenty-four Fubuki-class destroyers, built for the Imperial Japanese Navy following World War I. When commissioned, these ships were the most powerful destroyers in the world. They served as first-line destroyers through the 1930s, and remained formidable weapons systems well into the Pacific War.
In the naval battle of Guadalcanal (Third Battle of the Solomon Sea in Japanese sources), half of the battle results (destruction 5) of the Japanese fleet, which stands out in the Japanese fleet, were listed as a single ship and played an active role. Challenge the enemy fleet including the battleship with a single ship, kill two enemy destroyers, burn one.? It was an exceptional result for a destroyer that temporarily disabled the gun battle.
About the kit
Tamiya has faithfully modeled the differences from the I type (as those on Fubuki), such as the shape of the chimney, bridge, and turret.
Parts such as boats and anti-aircraft guns are also delicately finished.
This kit reproduces Ayanami in the state before the naval battle of Guadalcanal.
