A Revolutionary Racer
The Type 49 impressed straight away on its debut in the Dutch GP, third race of the 1967 Formula 1 season, recording the fastest lap on the way to victory from pole. Its innovative structure featured the legendary (at that stage, brand new) Ford Cosworth DFV engine as a stressed member attached directly to the monocoque rear bulkhead. That season, the Type 49 was piloted by two world-class drivers at the top of their game, Jim Clark and Graham Hill, and they ensured that the Type 49 was pole-sitter in every race it entered in the Championship. The next year, it evolved into the 49B, and would bring Team Lotus a third Constructors’ title. This 1/12 scale model realistically recreates the revolutionary structure and details of the Type 49.

★This model takes the original 1973 Tamiya kit to a new level of detail with new photo-etched and metal parts. ★1/12 scale. Length: 350mm, width: 165mm, height: 65mm. (when assembled) ★The model accurately captures the car’s slim, compact form. ★Movable suspension utilizes realistic mechanism with metal coil spring ★Detailed DFV engine is recreated with pipes and wiring. ★Steering wheel moves front wheels. ★Comes with semi-pneumatic rubber tires and driver figure.

★The cigar-shaped form of this classic racer is recreated with trademark Tamiya accuracy.

★The DFV engine, originally designed for the Type 49, is depicted faithfully, with new metal air funnel parts.

★The model features a removable nose cone part, with photo-etched radiator surface parts to up realism.

★The iconic Lotus emblem on the nose of the car is depicted using a resin sticker.

★Included in the kit are decals recreating Dutch and Belgian GP cars from 1967, plus yellow stripes.

★Photo-etched front/rear brake discs, and radiator parts also contribute to the model’s impressive detail.
